Beautiful Magazines

I have always loved magazines, since the days of my beloved Fast Forward Magazine which I cut out and collaged pretty much across the whole of my bedroom, take that pictures aplenty!  I've always enjoyed a real mix up of different varieties, I love fashion maagzines,Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, but I tend to be swayed by the photography in each, and while I still love them they don't really relate to my life anymore, I'm not really sure they ever did.

These days I've moved on to interior mags like Living Etc, Homestyle, the Simple Life and many other titles. I've heards lots of people say about how we're moving away from printed magazines and more to online, but I really disagree, while I adore scrolling through instagram and blogs which are a major source of inspiration for me, there will always be a place for a physical magazine. My absolute favourite magazines are independant magazines, beautifully thick pages that inspire you and keep you reading long past you gazing at the pretty pictures. Lionheart Magazine is one of those and I am always so proud to be involved in it in anyway.

The stunning Ella Masters illustration on the cover is so iconic I almost want to frame it, and the articles as always so interesting. There are things to make, write and wonderful stories be passed on. I love that every aspect of the maagzine is deeply thought out, from the gorgeous artwork to the poetry gracing the end papers.
I have an illustration to accompany a piece by Jessica Furseth about Parakeets in London. It was a lovely brief, I have to say I haven't drawn a parakeet in my life so it was a completely new theme for me, but one that I so enjoyed - I want to create a whole exotic birds collection now!

I also have a pattern on the editors letter page which I'm so pleased with. It's a delicate nature inspired pattern and I think it sits beautifully with Helen's words.

I was also asked about my favourite space in our home for Project Calm Magazine - I hadn't ever seen this maagzine before, but as soon as I saw the cover of it I knew it would become an old friend.

It's a wonderful read and I would definitely reccomend it. There are so many lovely things to do and inspirational articles in there  - I love how it is about mindfulness through making, which I really think is at the core of what I do. There's a lovely section about making little scent sachets which I'm going to make with the girls this afternoon.

The girls and I made this little beautiful scent sachets which were so satisfying to make, they raised lots of cute little conversations about our favourite smells and memories, I adore little activities like these. Simple but wonderful little moments.

If you know of anyother magazines you think I'd like please let me know! Happy reading xx
